Six years dragged by,mostly spent in dead-end jobs stacking shelves and washing dishes.Garys despondency grew ever deeper.What was he to do?
Mom was very unhappy with her growing boy,he constantly dipped his fingers into her purse while she slept.(This was later to become a career.) He lied and cheated like it was second nature,and the police were constantly at the door.He simply couldnt be trusted.Mom sent Gary to stay with relatives,but within days they washed their hands of him,and returned him homewards.Things were going missing in the house and money too!
Then a strange thing occured,Gary came home one night carrying a large cardboard box.
Where did you steal that cried Mom! I dont want the Police here again tonight!
By this time Gary had learned the art of "plausability",look Mom I saved up the money really I did!
The box contained a thing called a computer.It was a DIY solder together kit,and a new invention.
The blurb said it would take you to places that Gary had only ever dreamed of,it was called the World Wide Web----.
